Summer Creek Farm Goods is a small, emerging little farm .... but very busy! Frances Mueller, C-E-I-E-I-O of Summer Creek Farm Goods is a wife, mother of four and has a dream to teach children in and out of our rural community where their food begins and the path it takes to get to their table. She started this adventure in 2016 by selling organic, non-GMO, soy-free eggs from free-range chickens and duck hens. Her micro farm keeps very happy hens who dine on as many bugs as they can catch on the alfalfa and clover pasture to make wonderful deep golden yolks unlike any you will find in a store. Her chickens and ducks spend their days outdoors, enjoying fresh air, sunshine, green grass and are supplemented with certified organic, non-GMO, soy free wholesome grains. Her birds produce a stunning rainbow of colors, from plain white to cream, beige and brown, deep chocolate brown, speckled, robin’s-egg blue and light green, taupe and even dark olive green.
In 2017, she added a summer day camp option geared towards kids ages 3-12. Each day camp focuses on a different daily theme such as gardening, insects, animals, rocks, dinosaurs, pollinators, photography, art, music, water activities, bee-keeping, home preserving, astronomy, architecture, yoga and much much more! Snacks, crafts and activities are based around the daily theme, plus each camper gets to help out daily on the farm!
We also offer our meat thru a CSA (community supported agriculture) including chicken, turkey and pork. Our chickens are red broilers, Cornish cross, freedom rangers and speckled sussex. Our turkeys are heritage breeds and are bourbon reds and bronze cross. Both chickens and turkeys are allowed to free range on an alfalfa and clover pasture in addition to eating tons of bugs and a certified organinc, soy-free, non-GMO feed. All our pigs are heritage breeds, including Red Wattle pigs, Gloucestershire Old Spots cross with Duroc and Red Hereford. They are conventionally started, then raised outdoors on pasture with lots of dirt and mud and grass to root around in. They have shelter and shade and have sprinklers to reduce stress during the summer heat. We feed them 100% certified organic hog grower which is non-GMO and soy free. These are not certified organic hogs, but please come check out what we feed them and how we raise them and I’m sure you’ll find they are “beyond organic”.
Summer Creek Farm Goods also gleans local produce and fruits to create amazing and delectable blue-ribbon award winning jams and jellies which are not only delicious but make awesome gifts.
