It's the 21st century -- and Grandma no longer lives on the family farm. We invite you to stay with us at our family's working farm and make some down-on-the-farm memories. Escape to the tranquility of our meadows, gardens, cows and sheep.
Staffed by our family of three, Weatherbury Farm is a sustainable working grass-fed beef and sheep farm. Certified organic eggs and grains (soft & hard wheat, oats, spelt, open-pollinated corn, emmer and einkorn) are also grown on the farm. The grains are milled into flours on the farm’s stone mill..
Weatherbury Farm offers three types of farm stay opportunities on select Friday and Saturday nights in June, July & August:
1. B&B Farm Stay with light farm fresh breakfast. Light morning chores -- collecting eggs and, perhaps feeding baby animal(s) ** will be offered on Saturday and/or Sunday morning. Enjoy life on the farm and/or explore the countryside. ** Subject to farmers' schedule
2. Farm Stay Experience with a hearty farm fresh breakfast followed each day by in-depth morning chores. Weatherbury's educational farm experience stay is appropriate for adults and children (usually 10 & older) who want to learn more about farming and agriculture. The emphasis will be on the organic and sustainable production methods used at Weatherbury Farm.
3. Group farm stays -- rent all three suites for a family & friends get-together. Light farm fresh breakfast. Light morning chores** will be offered on one or both mornings. Enjoy life on the farm and/or explore the countryside. (Dates other than those listed on the calendar may be available. Please inquire.)
Farm stay visitors are invited to participate in our Weatherbury Farm Kids Program. Families staying for two or more nights receive a packet (filled with lots of farm information about farming) and every child is invited to earn the “Official Weatherbury Farm Kid” designation. Younger children do chores and complete a picture worksheet; older children have fun doing chores and learning with our "Farm Workbook."
Many families have fun watching (from a distance, of course) Farmer Dale & Farmer Nigel at work in the fields. Or sometimes (more often than we like), they may be working on keeping our farm equipment in good running order. Some families like to get their hands dirty and help Marcy weed the garden! Everyone enjoys the opportunity to kick back and relax on the farm and enjoy life in the slow lane.
If you are looking to experience a real working farm, please consider a stay at Weatherbury Farm.
