The Box Lazy A is a small family owned and operated ranch tucked into in the remote hills of North East Kansas. The ranch is beautifully located on 160 acres of deep, thickly timbered hills, grassy fields, high meadows, creeks, ponds and a silence only the country can offer. We are surrounded by over three thousand acres of prime, Midwestern hunting and pasture land creating a very remote, out-in-the-backwoods feeling.
Three European cabins over look Spring Creek pond, where children and adults alike kayak, chase frogs and share the experiences of the day in the light of the evening campfire under the blanket of countless stars.
Organic/natural produce from the farm may be purchased for preparing meals in your own cabin or, gourmet meals may be delivered in a lined basket to suit your personal needs.
Our commitment is to preserve our hills with sustainable farm practices, solar/wind power and the Blue Water System. Whether you are looking to hike the hills or needing to kick off your boots, put your feet up and stay for awhile, we are your ideal destination.
Turn North off of Hwy 36 on Hwy 110. Go 2 miles into Axtell, turn right at the T and then a quick left north again. From this point continue 6 miles North (the road will jog to the left around the high school and then become gravel continuing North. It is now 30th Road). When you cross the creek turn right onto Cherokee. There is a sign for the Ranch and mail box with the silhouette of a horse. Cherokee is about 1 mile long and dead ends at the ranch house.
Note: Most cell phones do not work in this area. If you feel lost, stop and ask any farmer. They all know where we are.
