Carter Mountain Orchard
Our season begins in late June with peaches and nectarines. Pick your own, or purchase fresh-picked - yellow, white, and donut peaches, as well as yellow and white nectarines. 15 varieties of apples beginning in mid-August, through November. Ginger Gold, Gala, Red and Golden Delicious, Jonathan, JonaGold, Fuji, Stayman, Winesap, York, Rome, Braeburn, Granny Smith, and Albemarle Pippin, to name a few. Call ahead, or check our website, for availability updates. Our bakery serves fresh baked pies, cookies, and our famous Apple Cider Donuts (early September through mid-November). Fresh apple cider and apple butter, in season. Country Store features local crafts, homemade jams and jellies, and gourmet food items. Hayrides on weekends in October. School field trips are welcome by appointment. Annual Apple Harvest Festival first and second weekends in October, featuring music, crafts, food, hayrides, and everything apple! Pumpkins and gourds available mid-September through October. 40 mile view, overlooking Charlottesville VA and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Located adjacent to Monticello and Michie Tavern. Open daily from late June til Thanksgiving.
From I-64, take exit 121 (if traveling eastbound) or 121-A (if traveling westbound) onto Route 20 South. At second traffic light, turn left on Route 53. Follow Route 53 for 3/4 mile, and see our sign on the right.
