Hsu's Ginseng Enterprise
In 1974, a young entrepreneur by the name of Paul Hsu began his ginseng business in north Central Wisconsin because he saw the value in Wisconsin American ginseng and its connection to personal wellness. Forty years later, Hsu's Ginseng Enterprise (HGE) rests atop the largest and most successful producer of Wisconsin-grown American ginseng in the world. Based in Wausau, WI, with stores and locations around the world, Hsu's thrives on being an industry leader and exporter. With nearly 400 acres of cultivated ginseng, Hsu's is able to operate year round with growing, harvesting, and sales operations that primarily service North America and China. Not only do we specialize in farming ginseng, we are breaking into the composting markets. HGE supports tours year-round, however the optimal time to visit is in the summer months in early May until November because there is much more to see when the ground thaws. Touring our operations includes visiting our local farms, taking a tour of our main offices and warehousing operations, and also our retail store.
