Come to a working farm and be part of a real farm family! Wake up in the morning to the sound of a rooster! Flip Flop Ranch is 143 acres and we specialize in raising endangered heritage livestock. For example, our Cotton Patch Geese are critically endangered with only a few hundred left. We own the biggest flock (gaggle) of them in the world and we only have 30 breeding geese. We also raise rare Dorking and Australorp chickens, Guinea Hogs, Ancona Ducks, Bourbon Red and Midget White turkeys and Nigerian Dwarf Goats. We have a one acre orchard with all sorts of fruits and a four acre wine vineyard.
So let me tell you a bit about Flip Flop Ranch. It’s named this because when our family was nothing but city slickers moving out to the country, we could never kick our flip flops. The other farmers made fun of us girly girls doing ranch chores in our flimsy shoes and laughingly start calling our place Flip Flop Ranch. Well we loved it and we’re still wearing flip flops years later!
Our biggest strength is that we really enjoy making people feel welcome and like they’re part of the family. We want our guests to leave wishing that they could stay forever because they absolutely loved being here. As a working farm guests are introduced to the whole farm experience. Guests are welcome to participate as much or as little as they like. Many guests want to help with chores, while others simply enjoy sitting in the porch rockers or use the ranch as a jumping off point to visit the sites in southern california. Have fun - this is your vacation!
Please note that this is a self-catering farmstay.
***We're located in the high desert of southern California. It's the middle of nowhere, but all the big southern California sights are within a couple hours (and so is Vegas). The mountain ski resorts like Big Bear are about 20 minutes away and Joshua Tree National Park is about 45 minutes away. We live in the last of the wild west and guarantee that your visit will be a fun and unique experience!
