The Bloomington Community Farmers' Market welcomes shoppers and vendors to Showers Common at City Hall on Saturdays (April- Nov) and to 6th and Madison Streets on Tuesdays (June- Sept). Beautiful displays of Indiana produce and flowers transform the Common into a canvas painted with the brilliant hues of nature's bounty. Enjoy buying from the farmers and backyard vendors who not only grow their food, but often share recipes for preparing it. Because all the produce is grown by those who sell it, the fruits and vegetables are usually harvested the day before they are sold - sometimes even on the morning of the sale.
On the second Saturday of the months May-October, visit A Fair of the Arts. Local and regional artists and fine craftspeople display, demonstrate and sell their handwork on the brick plaza adjacent to the Farmers' Market. On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, visitors are transported to a simpler time at the Holiday Market. Customers can enjoy the pleasure of finding unique gifts and buying them directly from the person who created them as well as later season farm crops and storage items for your larder. Holiday musical performances, roasted chestnuts and carriage rides from the Market through downtown Bloomington complete an exciting shopping atmosphere.
